What is the ERA?

“Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.”

The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is the ratified 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing equal rights regardless of sex. Now, it’s being used in lawsuits to fight discrimination and abortion bans, setting legal precedents that will shape its impact.

This is why civic engagement is more important than ever. By amplifying these cases and taking daily action, we can push for real change. Join our #DoOneThingEveryDay campaign and take action for democracy, equality, and justice—starting today!

Why the ERA is Essential - NOW MORE THAN EVER!

  • Guarantees gender equality in the U.S. Constitution.
  • Protects against rollbacks on reproductive rights.
  • Provides stronger legal protection for LGBTQIA+ individuals.
  • Closes loopholes in the law that allow gender-based discrimination to persist.
  • Establishes a firm constitutional foundation, preventing hard-won progress on gender equality from being undone by changing political tides.

About Us

Equality Era Now is a newly formed grassroots organization of ordinary citizens turned passionate activists. Born out of post-election frustration and a determination to take action, we’ve grown into a movement dedicated to advancing equality and empowering others to raise their voices.

Our mission is to treat the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment and educate the public on its significance, while also mobilizing civic engagement and pushing for meaningful change at every level of government. Together, we believe we can build a future where equality is not just a goal, but a reality.

"Never doubt that small group of thoughtful, commited CITIZENS can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
